Yoga Intention for 2010

I was fortunate enough to take Chrystine Cooper’s class on New Year’s Day and on January 2nd at Bikram Yoga NYC Midtown.

For those who have never taken a class with Chrystine, she leads a very calm, serene and meditative class.  One thing I treasure is that in-between each posture, she reminds us all to “Inhale……and exhale.”
Breath is such a vital necessity, but you’d be surprised how often we forget to do it during class (as well as in our lives).  Her gentle reminder helps us all to reset and re-center before our next posture.
In the beginning of both classes, Chrystine shared her 2010 Mantra with the class.  She said it was Georgia-inspired.
Sometimes even just affirming a small intention, sets yourself up for a truly inspiring practice.  So I just wanted to share her Mantra with you:

To build a beautiful temple for my soul.
To live less in my mind.
To be here now.

Namaste!

  1. I know what you mean about the power of a small intention. The style of yoga that I do actually flows through the movements in conjunction with breathing, and ends each session with a little affirmation. It’s so weird sometimes how spot on they relate to my day, and they always end the practice on a peaceful, positive note.
    I’m off on totally the right foot this year, I have done yoga every day so far. I know I can’t keep it up indefinitely, eventually I’ll have an appointment or have to work late, but I’m not letting just excuses stop me any more.
    Namaste =)

  2. I am not one to do yoga (never tried it) but I like this mantra and will take it with me as I feel as it will help me make 2010 my year. Thank you for sharing it.

  3. Hi Ladies!
    Hope this mantra does for you what it does for me. Glad I was able to share it. Hope 2010 brings peace and serenity into your lives! :)
