Style Muse: Betty Davis (the original Lady Gaga of Style)

While doing a little research for my upcoming album cover shoot, I’ve been scouring my surroundings for a little inspiration.  The other weekend, while vinyl-hunting in the city, I came across this incredible Betty Davis album cover:

It was then that it hit me: Betty Davis was totally the 70s funk/rock/soul Black Girl version of today’s Lady Gaga.

Let’s look at the similarities:  Betty Davis and Gaga are both revolutionary in every way: their music is edgy but both their STYLES are avant-garde, playful, funky, sexy, but always with an attitude.  (and in Betty Davis’ case…SOULFUL)

I think Betty Davis is the ultimate Style Muse.

Is it just me who sees the similarities between the two???  :P

What do you guys think?  Don’t you agree that Betty Davis is a fabulous Style Muse??

    I love the photos of Betty Davis..I’m curious now. the photos are amazing.good luck with your shoot. I last met you at the FNO unveiling @soho. We were talking about nails. I have my sakura on too. lol We also know each other from work, I work for ____ too, in the field tho. I manage a downtown store… anyways. Check out my blog on wordpress…. Its got my latest sakura style, which is hotness. It involves antique reflect gold glitter and gradient stylings!!! lol I’m such a geek about this.. ttyl….Kat

    GURL…those nails are HAWT!!!!!! :) I’m going tomorrow night to get my new set. Did you use a pigment on them for the gradation?

    I used a pigment.. I used Reflects gold glitter on the gradation… I am debating on what to get next tho. I love your rainbow style. I think I get tired of it after 2 weeks and that’s not good, bc they’re too expensive.. lol

    OOOH – LOVE Pigment. Was thinking of trying one of the Marilyn Minter Makeup Art Cosmetics Glitters one of these days!!! I get tired of the design too, but I LOVE that I never have to worry about chipping!!

    I think the Fuschia glitter would be way sick, but then I’m partial to the color… or the dark blue/green in some kind of gradation.I love calgel. its amazing, esp since my hands are always in someone’s face. They’re totally presentable. but it’s an expensive habit. lol I totally want a new style each week.. is that normal?? the options are limitless.. lol
