All my girlfriends can attest: I’m REALLY bad at shopping. I’d much rather shop in the comfort of my own home via my laptop, than trudge around NYC and deal with a village of idiots everywhere I turn. There’s something to be said about these formulas:
- CLOTHING STORE + SHOPPERS = PLUMMETING IQs
- HEATHER + SLOW-WALKING, FICKLE SHOPPERS = ANGRY HEATHER
I don’t have patience for morons. Sorry. Time is too precious.
So imagine my surprise when I passed by EXPRESS (of all places) in SoHo, and spotted this cute vest in the window:

Shocked to encounter such cuteness from EXPRESS, I dragged my friend into the store to investigate further.
PRICE: $88.00
“Not bad for leather,” I think to myself. Then we rush out of there, just as the store clerk began to assault us with, “Y’know, we have a great Men’s section downstairs…”
Back at my trusty computer, I checked out the Express Website and discovered that the vest actually is NOT leather, but FAUX leather. Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t like “faux” ANYthing. I like all things genuine. That applies to Music, Food, Personalities, Fur (hell, it keeps me warm), Labels and Leather.

Cute, no?
But now, knowing it’ll cost me $88-Georges…not sure if that’s REALLY worth it. Call me cheap (I prefer THRIFTY), but I don’t want to drop them bones on something that’s “faux”.
*sigh*
The search for affordable leatherware continues…

i agree… i remember when i saw a cute leather jacket at BEBE only to find out it was “leatherette” WTF is leatherette and why is it costing me the same as real leather?
@yaya LMAO!!!!!!!! “Leatherette”!!
Genuine leather stuff cost a lot though. I brought a genuine leather jacket a few months ago at a m0851 sample sale and it still cost $400 but it was worth it. I love my jacket. If you love something you should definitely go for it.
it’s faux leather to be more animal friendly. they make no effort to hide it, as they call the series (minus the) leather. express has had leather jackets in the past; so it’s not a quality issue. the polyurethane looks and feels like leather. it’s not your typical faux leather jacket.
I wish I had one of these for sure! I own lots and lots of leather but I must say this vest has a stand alone appearance…just sorry I missed it while it was for sale…if anyone wants to sell a size medium…
