Clearly I missed the memo on this one. It began with me flipping through my fave magazine (Wired) and reading that a Nalgene bottle was “Tired”, and Siggs were “Wired”.
Then I started seeing everyone carrying the new Sigg bottles EVERYwhere.
Here’s the thing: I went to Bowdoin College. Small liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. Most of the student body were “crunchy” – granola-y, socially conscious and planet-conscious. Nalgenes were what you carried around.
Before going green became oh-so-chic, I’d always had a Nalgene bottle at work for my water. (And all my fellow Bikram Yogis can attest – when you Bikram, you drink crazy amounts of water!).
(my trusty old Nalgene – which is now UN-cool)
But in addition to being passé, apparently Nalgenes are also toxic. HM. Not good.
So today, I’ve finally decided to give in to peer pressure and get one of these Siggs. This is a continuation of my earlier rant: it’s EXPENSIVE to be healthy!! Nalgenes used to run aroun $7-$10. These Sigg suckas are $21-$25!!!

*sigh* The price we pay to be socially acceptable.

When did Nalgenes become so UN-cool?
