Yesterday’s big reveal at Cupertino for the new Apple iPhone OS 3.0 answered a lot of the long-standing “why nots” around the iPhone 3G.
In addition to the new “Spotlight” feature (which, to be honest, I don’t know how often I’ll be using), the main areas of excitement for me are:
MMS Capability
- Ability to send multiple photos in an email
COPY + PASTE!!!!!!!!
Landscape Typing across more applications

All of us iPhone users are doing inner victory dances, shamed that we are rejoicing over BASIC features that we’ve been denied in the name of Apple. All the Blackberry-heads are diabolically laughing & pointing from the corner, thinking, “HA! Suckas!”
Truthfully, my excitement for these new features are really a sad example of how iPhone Institutionalized I truly am. These are basic phone features that other handsets seem to offer as standard. It’s a little sad that the OS 3.0 announcement warrants such a celebration.
Personally I’ve waivered between Blackberry and iPhone for a while. The Blackberry has a great deal of functional basics. It’s overall, a sturdier work phone, though the device itself seems to have a manufactured shelf life of approximately 1 year before you have to get a replacement.
But ultimately, the iPhone is great because it’s an all-in-one for me. Music, phone, contacts, calendar and mail all in one. It’s a great convenience. Mobile Me isn’t perfect, but I love not having to sync it with my iBook at home. iApps are not a great personal appeal – just a novelty for the most part. Plus it LOOKS great, and let’s face it – we’re all creatures of vanity, no? ![]()
So tap on, my iPhone Clan…tap on.
